20 Years; 20 Places: No.3 Maguluf, Mallorca

The continuation of 20 Places and 20 Players to put a stamp on my 20 years of Blogging.

Back to the Places then, and one that will always bring back great memories…. Magaluf in Mallorca.

38-years ago, which seems absurd, me and 12 of my closest mates went on our first ever foreign holiday to Magaluf. I laughed for two-weeks solid. We are still all in touch and whenever I am home and we get a lot of the group out as sure as eggs are eggs those holiday stories will emerge, and they still produce a good giggle.

In 2011, which also seems like yesterday, the majority of that original group had a 25-year reunion back in Magaluf, which hadn’t really changed apart from the fact it was bigger and smellier. We retraced old steps, even our 1986 hotel, which we noticed had the flags back on the roof and still laughed at lot but probably at different things.

The town of Playa de Magaluf with it’s wide sandy beach and English pubs serving everything with beans and chips. Not a bucket list location but a right of passage of a generation, including ours.

We have long talked of all going back again. I hope we do.

Magaluf. Boys holiday. 1986.

If you’re thinking of going back again, you’d better hurry up.

The Spaniards don’t seem to want us any more.
