Club shop back in club hands

Good news to see that The Valley shop has come back under club control.

It’s the little things isn’t it, and for me the demise of the club shop under third rate, third party control mirrored the whole leadership of the club under third rate, third party control.

Credit to the owners and management team for wanting to improve the offerings, which won’t be difficult.

The club shop has been in a rut of trying not very hard to sell poor quality garments and over priced kits, which are never there when you want one.

I know the purpose is to make money, obviously, but I hope the SMT fund the shop properly and bring items into the store that will peak interest. Better quality, better choice.

Thomas Sandgaard handed the keys over to Castore, one of many headstrong daft decisions he made, and I believe there is a still at least two years left of the kit deal signed in 2022.

Let’s make it a club shop where you want to pop in and feel compelled to buy something, and are happy to treat your child or grandchild because it is something worthwhile buying.

Hi C A, just a little personal blog, I turned 84 this week, 23rd May, same birthday as Dennis Compton! my first visit was at six years old to see the semi final against Preston when we went on to win the Cup, my dad took us into the covered end and I remember being stunned seeing all those 30 thousand people on the East terrace frightening for a six year old, another memory of that time was when at the last game of a season the pitch was ripped up and a racing car track was laid over night, I went to the event and remember Lana Turner spread over the bonnet of a big American car drive round the track, her husband was the owner of the event, not a very successful venture though, moving on I moved down to the West Country Sidmouth, some forty years ago and spent many of those years going to the Valley, some with my pals in the West Country branch, 400 miles each trip !! and many away games as well, been a funny old life following, Charlton now sit at home watching them on TV when possible, best wishes, Bill Skudder

I couldn’t agree more CA. Much of the ‘merchandise’ has just been tat!
I shall await a very nice Addicks flat cap, possibly in Tweed, with tasteful CAFC traditional lettering on the side.
    I don’t suppose I’m the only one who can’t stand omni-present baseball-style caps…

All we need now is to get the Valley back in Charltons hands.

I think we may have to wait a while for that though…………..

And Sparrows Lane. I’ve thought for some time that SL should be purchased through CAST (if they could get the money through supporters). It would be a step in the right direction of us lot owning something of CAFC of value. Who knows where that could eventually end? (Exeter and Luton are to be envied…)

      • Wayne – The owners are attacking some of these issues and I applaud them. The Valley and Sparrow Lane are the biggest and most expensive ones, and I hope we are getting to a point where they become next on the list.
