Chuks cheat code

Clinging onto branches of good things at the moment.

How up for it was Chuks Aneke when he came on last night? This photo taken by Paul Edwards was just a few seconds after he entered the pitch. Straight up to Lincoln’s two centre-halves banging into one and then giving them both some verbal.

I read a comment on Charlton Life that a fan who sits behind the benches said that for a good while before he came on Nathan Jones was praising him and getting him all riled up.

Aneke was involved immediately in goal mouth action, and couldn’t quite get his feet right to shoot. The ball went out and he stared up at the Covered End, raised his fists and screamed. The noise at The Valley last night was definitely turned up once he came on.

He was magnificent for those 35 minutes he was on and threw himself into everything. Shirking not one tackle or incident of play. The poor bloke has been through so much, and missed out on loads in his career, one that would never have him toiling in a L1 relegation battle if he could’ve been much luckier with injuries.

His heart, passion and bottle can never be questioned. If we can keep Chuks fit and he can come off the bench in every game left, then we have to have a chance.

I find it fascinating that Chuk’s is taking on an almost Killer (Hales) talisman like persona !! Different to Killer !? Yes he is but he also appears to be Charlton through and through and he is back! What do they say ? Commeth the hour commeth the man! I really hope Nathan is our Messiah and I am sure Chuks is one of the apostles !!!! ( no I am not religious CA😀) but I have unashamedly worshipped Charlton from birth and at the Valley as a five year old in 1966. We shall overcome !!

Well said, I’ve always been very positive about Chuks being at the club, even though he’s suffered continual long term injuries, simply because I’ve had the privilege of watching him when he’s fit and belive me he has shone like the true star he when he’s fit.

If we’re relying on Chuks to save our season, we’re likely to be disappointed.
I just hope the Messiah doesn’t start him any time …………..

Yep….Chucks coming on did make a difference and he got very physically involved in the box…he is a giant of a player and standing next to him I was dwarfed….any defender marking him will have their work cut out.
He ended the night warming down and his speed is amazing for his build.
    Stay injury-free Chucks !

If he can stay fit for the last 14 games we will escape relegation, and we have not seen the best of Ladapo yet either. He is a far better player than we have seen so far. With those two and May all match fit, would be a force to be reckoned with. Do we dare to dream.

Never understood what’s meant by ‘cheat code’? Can someone enlighten me.

He is a brute and magnificent with it, let’s hope he can at least last out the season and of course longer.

He’s had such awful luck he deserves some good!

It’s what the kids say innit.

All about video games and having codes to crack advanced levels.

Not necessarily needed for pong on Atari 😄👾

Still doesn’t explain why Chuks has been saddled with it, unless it’s in reference to game/injury time?

I know. I have exhausted my knowledge of cheat code. Just need his hamstrings wrapped in cotton wool now.

    Simples….
Let Nathan get him really focused before he plays…let him sniff raw meat and let Chuks loose…

Has anyone worked out what are expected points are when he plays and when he doesn’t. I am warming to Jones, but basically managers look good when he is fit and bad when he doesn’t.

      Oliver:

      With Chuks – P8 W4 D4 L0 = 16 points = 2.00 PPG

      Without Chuks – P24 W3 D7 L14 = 16 points – 0.83 PPG

Thankyou! Yep that is the only thing with Jones, basically all Charlton’s recent managers, Holden, Apples, even Garner I think, looked good when he is fit and bad when he wasn’t. If you look at the Bolton and Derby games I think Charlton were down when he came on and he changed things. Things might have changed anyway, but not on recent evidence, and if we did not have those 4 points Jones would be under fire already. So it will be a test for Jones if and when (probably when ): he is out again.

I want all of these things for Chuks and from him, I really do
Most of the seasons in the 5 odd years since he first joined us, he’s barely made 14 appearances
Only one season (his 2nd with us) has he been able to string together a dozen appearances, even brief ones as sub.
Daring to hope he’ll be able to meaningfully contribute for the bulk of our remaining 14 games borders on delusional.
Bowyer just about got 20 minutes out of him once a week
2 appearances in a week guaranteed his unavailability for another month
He’s not to blame for Sandgaard’s lunatic decision to pay Birmingham that much for him, nor for the package he’s on.
For my sanity I can only regard him as a very occasional bonus player
Planning, tactics and formations match to match have to be done without him. Making him key to anything is right up there with buying lottery tickets as a way to make a living. Having 6 places on the bench for outfield subs means NJ will always have robust alternatives. If Chuks plays his part in keeping us above 4 other teams we can put the rest of it behind us. Expecting him to lead from the front is Appleton level stupidity.
Chuks is a lovely bloke and he’d cheerfully offer to run through a brick wall for Charlton, trouble is he’ll pull his hammy tying his shoes.
