Travel wise

This new job of mine was always going to be an adjustment and one of those adjustments was the amount of travel I was going to have to do, particularly the short bursts of trip kind.

I have already spent a couple of late Friday’s nights at airports waiting to get home, which is not particularly fun, and a couple of Sunday’s have been spent travelling in readiness for an early Monday kick off.

Video calls may have moderated the need for travel, but they haven’t and shouldn’t, in my mind at least, take the place of crucial face to face interactions. I have always enjoyed travelling, but more than ever airline travel is unreliable and frankly I am not as young as I once was. Although possibly I think I am when I am out drinking beyond bed time knowing I have an early morning alarm call!

This new job is still evolving, but working from home and the amount of travel has been taking a bit of getting used too.

Today I am on my way back to Bermuda for a couple of days, which falls into the enjoyable column. I will see old colleagues and old mates, and have conveniently timed the trip to coincide with the annual veterans rugby World Cup held on the island, which is always a good time.
