Terry Taylor signs

Now, that is a proper footballers name. I did read it as Terry Naylor first of all mind (one for the oldies that)

Terry Taylor, a young highly rated central midfielder with plenty of games under his belt and talked about positively in many circles.

Taylor has been signed from Burton Albion, and although out of contract a fee is still payable due to his age. That was undisclosed but meant to be in the region of £150,000.

Just 22, Taylor, who is Scottish born, came through the Aberdeen youth system but was scouted and signed by Wolves when he was 16. Just the one game for Wolverhampton plus a loan spell at Grimsby. Yet, it was at Burton where he started to get attention playing with maturity and a calmness.

The signings so far have been a real step up on what we have seen in previous seasons under Sandgaard. Players hungry, ambitious each with something to prove.

We are still short, but there looks like a plan and an ambition in place which is exciting to see.

I have to say I’m hugely surprised and happy with our recruitment starting with the resigning of Hector. A lert footed lwb added to Taylor who could end up being one hell of a bit of business if his ceiling of development is what is suggested in certain quarters. Set piece taker and creative combative defensive midfielder. Can’t wait to see who the striker will be .

Hi CA, I do like the sound of our recent signings, who so far appear to be a good step up from previous signings in recent times. I still think we need another striker to cover for our current injury prone strikers and assuming we will go two up front someone a bit taller to help May. We played very well last night for the first hour and for me Anderson was outstanding for someone so young.

    (One for the oldies)
Terry played for Tottenham and as a kid lived on the same landing as my mums family in Copenhagen Street kings Cross my mum remembers him as a snotty nosed kid causing havoc playing football on the landing probably because mums family were all Arsenal fans !
What a great player that snotty nosed kid turned out to be ⚽️⚽️⚽️

David – He was a quick attack minded full back who could use both feet. Unusual for his day. I remember him fondly and was great with the fans. I read on Wikipedia that is a pub singer in his spare time.

Finding it hard to reign in my rising excitement. I keep telling myself it’s the hope that kills you. Been here before. 🤪

Does the steady flow of signings suggest that the new owners kept planning through the hiatus in their negotiations with skintgaard?
This isn’t yet looking like the spivs & Varney’s summer of 2011 but compared to most of the last decade it’s very positive and clearly not just the work of a few weeks

The quality, potential and diversity of the new players plus a new management team of people with extensive football knowledge and experience also a high level of achievement seems to be too good to be true!!!
Let’s hope this really this is a big revival after more than a decade of disappointment,

The recent signings do give cause for optimism. I am particularly pleased to have Alfie May and Camara on board. Two players who have impressed me greatly over the past couple of years. Looks like the last piece of the jigsaw is a proper centre forward to fill the gap left by Leaburn’s injury and Chucks who unfortunately we need to write off!
Love the story about your dog and hope all goes well for both of you.

      Wayne – many thanks.

Perhaps a centre forward and a replacement for Rak-Sakyi? A winger too if DJ and Kirk leave
