Leaving Bermuda
Just over 15 years ago we moved from Chicago, the city of big shoulders to this beautiful if peculiar tiny island of Bermuda, but the time has now come to leave.
Bermuda has been good to us so we leave with a heavy heart staying far longer than we ever expected to. Bermuda is a wonderful place to live and bring up a young family, even our daughter was born here, but for numerous reasons in no particular order – school, a new work challenge, and as a family we were ready for something different, we have made a long thought and drawn-out decision to move.
We bought a house in Sarasota on Florida’s Gulf Coast about 5 years ago, which we have gradually completely renovated, and it is to there where we will call home.
I am transferring with my company and will be doing a few different things, but will work nationally albeit being based in Tampa / home as well as still spending a bit of time back in Bermuda. Our daughter will go to high school in Sarasota and has joined a swim club, and the missus reckons she has retired…..
We are currently up to our in eyes in boxes and black dustbin bags as we get ready to leave at the end of this month. We will miss friends terribly, but we are ready for the move, and are looking forward to settling into to our new home, although knowing the town and area well will make the move much less of an upheaval…. here’s hoping.
So, when the new season kicks off I will be writing this Blog and watching those Addicks an hour further away in Florida, the sunshine state 🌞

Good luck on the move CA!
Many thanks Pedro.
A new chapter of how many I wonder. Bon voyage.
Thanks Clive. Yes, a new chapter begins.
All the best Sarosotaddick
Thanks Keith.
Good luck in your move…as I think you know we lived on Siesta Key for about 2 years at the turn of the century and still have friends there..our son has recently moved to Apollo Beach..
As you say you know the area well, have a home that you have spent many hours on I am sure, but hopefully you can avoid the Tampa commute as much as you can
Enjoy your new life…miss the beaches and their sunsets. Cheers.
Many thanks Alan. I do remember you telling me you lived on Siesta Key. The sunsets are definitely something else.
I think I will be working from home a fair bit. We are close to Siesta Key south of downtown, so it’s about an hours drive, which will soon become old I am sure.
Apollo Beach is south of Tampa isn’t it?
Yes correct .. only been there once last year and south of Tampa as you say
Again enjoy
The best of luck to you CA with your move and another exciting chapter in the journey of life! Keep us posted. X
Good luck and best wishes on your move. Hope you and your family enjoy it as much as you have in Bermuda. Look forward to your new posts from your new base!
Thank you Mike.
Good luck and happy landings. Will there be any Key Lime Pie waiting?

Much appreciated Wayne.
Wishing you and all the family on your move and a new era begins!!!
Many thanks Chris.
So now Sweet Home Sarasota! I have two nieces living there and they love it. All the best with the move CA. I’m sure you and your family will be very happy there.
Hang on Bristol. Are they Charlton fans? I’m looking to form the Sarasota Addicks club 😀
Unfortunatley neither is interested in foootball, unlike two of my daughters who are both fanatical Addicks.
Natalie’s brother Josh is still a season ticket holder though and I meet him, his son, daughter and dad at the Valley, Becky may support Liverpool (sic!) as do her brothers (80s/90s gloryhunters). Best of luck with the Sarasota Addicks Club!
We managed to cobble about 6 of us Addicks here in Bermuda. Plenty of ex-Pats in South West Florida. I will be on the hunt 🔴⚪️
Unfortunately not. No interest in football at all 🙁
Couldn’t settle on a better part of the world love our hols there from UK. – Marina Jacks St Armands Corcle and up to Sandbar on Anna Maria to watch sun go down – enjoy and keep up reports on CAFC hopefully on the up this year all the best PB
Thank you Paul. We have never been to the Sandbar. Definitely on the list.
Well good luck in your new venture.
If you travel to Freeport on Grand Bahama Island and visit Rum Runners on Count Basie Square, you will discover a Charlton shirt on the wall, left there after several visits by my family.
Was only just in the Bahamas.

Many thanks Steve.
Welcome to Florida! We almost met up in Miami some years ago. Around the time you moved to Bermuda I think. If I’m in the Sarasota area I’ll message. Likewise, if you find yourself in Miami. Good luck with the move.
Hi Andrew. Many thanks. Would be great to meet up one day
