Leaburn to miss start of the season

News today that Miles Leaburn will miss the start of the new season following an ankle injury received last week at Welling.

Word was it could have been a longer, but it will be weeks not months. Nonetheless the biggest loss will be a full pre-season for Miles. He had just a week, and recovery and match fitness when he returns will take longer as others will be strides ahead of him.

Dean Holden was talking of Leaburn’s need for a strong pre-season as he continues to grow into his body and build physicality and durability, and that in a lot of ways is the largest annoyance.

Today’s game at Dartford was a bit tempestuous. The referee doled out a couple of bookings and a straight red card for Darts defender Rooney after he swung a punch at Conor McGrandles.

The Addicks played different sides for each half and won 2-1, both goals coming from the impressive Nathan Asiimwe.

No forwards impressed at Dartford. The back 3 of Bakrin, Hector and Elewere impressed in the first half. The midfield of Henry, Fraser, McCrandles and Kirk were impressive with Asiimwe overlapping from right back with great effect in the second half. No viable left back on show. Thomas was missing.

Dean has a few worries to sort out….team are off to Malaga soon on pre-season trip and hopefully he can tweak things.
The match at Dartford was physical and hopefully helped some players deal with this approach next season.
We have to be realistic that new team members will have a steep learning curve to adopt as the season starts soon.
The home game against Aberdeen needs all the team to be up to speed.
