Charlton Athletic 0 Sheffield Wednesday 1

Sheffield Wednesday had the look of champions didn’t they. An experienced line up, defensively sound, dangerous on the attack, a master of the dark arts and backed by a big away support. They are a juggernaut only heading one way.
Wednesday play in the mold of Darren Moore, who has been given time and support. I wonder if Dean Holden will be offered the same.
Despite somewhat of a revival in the 2nd half we never looked like scoring, lacking in quality all over the pitch. When we did have the Owls slightly ruffled we lost both of our strikers within five minutes.
I think the sorry state of our season and indeed poor Chuks’ career was summed up when he was stretchered off. That was game over as our season limps on like a wounded animal.
Wednesday’s goal came in the 8th minute as our three centre-backs watched full back Palmer saunter into the box to score. Maynard-Brewer kept the score to one before the half as Wednesday dominated chances while we, as has so often been the case this season, passed the ball around in our own half.
No composure, no invention, nothing much at all. I really do dislike so many of this squad. They really do give you nothing to grab onto.
Dean Holden: “The message at half-time was that we needed to play with more purpose, we needed to play forward and run forward more. They gave us problems when they did that, they didn’t try and overplay. The pitch is difficult.”
Stats (CAFC first): Possession – 52% / 48%; Passes – 422 / 376; Accurate passes – 303 / 254; Shots (on target) – 7 (3) / 17 (4).

Time for Chuks to chuck it in and let Charlton claim on the insurance.
We’re hopeless and without any sort of future until a new owner arrives. Even then there’s no guarantees.
Unlike some, I’m not convinced we’re safe from relegation.
55 years I’ve supported Charlton, I’ve not felt this negative since we left The Valley for Selhurst.
Why on earth do you think there will be a takeover/new owner?
Administration more likely, which would actually seem like a blessing in disguise, would at least rid us of Sandgaard.
There is no white knight, at least whilst TS insists on retaining a share.
As for the game – same report as for any previous ones – no hope and Bob Hope, and Bob’s just left the building.
Abysmal.
As for A&Eke, time for the next Playstation.
Oh, and don’t forget the £5.5k a week for the next 15 months.
Who the hell gave him that contract. Legal theft.
The porcelain striker injured again…..I doubt we will see him again this season.
As for the game, I don’t think any of us expected any points out of it, given the form Wednesday are currently in. It would just have been nice for the whole team to step up to the plate.
Lets all hope that none of the teams below us at the moment go on winning runs, or we will be dicing with juggling survival again.
Oh what a fairground ride it is to be a Charlton supporter.
Wednesday played simple football, pass move, create space. It wasn’t rocket science but boy did it baffle our centre backs. Inniss should open a pub called the Head and Hoof and as for his partner in crime I have seen milk turn quicker. I don’t think we will be relegated but we probably have Palace to thank for that.
Ness looks like a good player in the making but we shouldn’t be shouldering him with so much responsibility at a young age.
Pre game brunch at the Walnut in Sidcup and the Crossbar Challenge the highlight of the day.
Another depressing drive back to Dymchurch.
The Head and Hoof. Like it. I wonder if Inniss could hit the crossbar from the D?
I’ve always wanted to go to Walnuts. I hear good things.
I don’t think charlton are as bad as you,re making out,Wednesday have moved on from being an average league one team to championship team, there is a big difference.
