Injury blow as Egbo could miss season

Terrible news regarding the injury to Mandela Egbo. The right back who was really showing a lot of promise will need surgery next week on a ruptured quadricep.

Described by Ben Garner as a one-in-a-million injury after Egbo kicked his own foot early in the Ipswich game which caused the injury. If a full rupture is discovered he will probably miss the season.

The right back, who Garner has known since he was 11, has only started 8 games for us after getting injured in pre-season.

That’s a real blow as he and Steven Sessegnon gave us real balance, and with O’Connell out we are pretty much down to five defenders including Sean Clare.

Youngsters Lucas Ness, Charles Claydon, Deji Elerewe and Charlie Barker are all out on loan. Ness at Torquay, Claydon at Bromley, and the latter two are at Wealdstone.

Garner said that Eoghan O’Connell, stretchered off in the same match is expected to be back before Christmas as his knee injury is not as severe as first suspected.

We have no absolutely no luck with injuries, but another reason for Garner to be given a back-up plan. At this rate any addition’s in January (if there are any) will be to replace injuries and not to strengthen.

I think (pretty sure) you will be right.
Any incoming no doubt will be loan only (no doubt similar to those two last year from Tott/Chelsea – (WTF was that all about) and then probably only after departures like JFC/Magilvrey.
    Shame for Egbo
