Jesurun Rak-Sakyi announced

The name of yesterday’s 7th summer signing had been on Addicks’ lips for a while, despite the tongue twister.
19-year old Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has joined from Crystal Palace for a season long loan. The assumption for the delay was that Rak-Sakyi was negotiating a new 5-year contract with our rivals plus the emergence of plenty of competition for the winger’s signature including Cardiff and Birmingham offering Championship football.
Jes has already made his Premier League debut and was a regular feature in Patrick Viera’s teams during their pre-season. He certainly comes well recommended and we’ll wait and see what he looks like in a red shirt.
Predominately left-footed but he has played on both sides of a three, is clearly talented and has scored goals at U23 level. I’d imagine the physicality of L1 will be a steep learning curve and he may not be suited to every opposition.
Because of Rak-Sakyi’s age, this signing doesn’t impinge on the squad number restriction, so I’m really hoping we aren’t done with our summer additions, as we are still light in defence on the left side and I’m intrigued to see if Thomas does push the boat out for a more mobile striker.
Welcome to a proper South London club Jes.
Looking forward to someone coming up with a song for that name!
After me…. Sooper, super Jes.… 🎵
“Jesurun wants me for a sunbeam ” ?
I hope we treat him better than last season’s debacle over the 2 PL loans who never got a kick for 6 months.
Unsurprisingly no hint of Spurs or Chelsea loaning us any more players.
If only we could have held on to Gallagher and Cullen after their loans with us….what progress these two brilliant players have made since being with us…..talent sprinkled with Charlton ingredients!!!
The two loans to whom you refer were a desperate attempt by TS to prevent us dropping into relegation territory. They were foisted on JJ and as was seen, were simply not good enough.
Hopefully Rak-Sayki is a rather better option. Time will tell.
Very pleased that this deal has gone through as he looks to be an exciting prospect and might well fit in on a regular basis.
I think we owe Palace one and when we are again the top side in South London we should return the favour
By sending them down 🤣🤣
I can fondly remember CA….. Dowie telling me that Simon Jordan was responsible for us relegating them….”he f*****g never put any money in when needed “.
Big thanks to Jonathan Fortune that day !!!
Daggs, if they didn’t get a kick how were they not good enough?
Could easily have been involved last 10 games when mired in mid table mediocrity.
Just 6 months wages poured down the drain.
Sorry Houndal but I saw John playing in the U23s and he was not technically and physically ready for senior football. The Chelsea lad had ability but did not look interested in being with us
Hi Guys…
I have to disagree….both Cullen and Gallagher are good technical players who I felt gave us a great deal.
I witnessed a dramatic improvement in our play when they featured.
Proof is in the pudding as both are now part of first team squad at their respective clubs.
Chris, no one is criticising Cullen and Gallagher, We’re referring to Nile John and the other lad who was so impressive I can’t even remember his name.
Houndal. The manager saw them in training and didn’t pick them. Wasted money for sure, but that was TS’s doing.
I hope this works out But I remember all the CP hype regarding Kaikai who was very poor in our shirt.
I feel sorry for Clayden, who I rate, when he arrived four years ago and played for the U18s as a left winger he looked very promising. But he has not been allowed to settle in any position. He has played on the RHS because of the mania to play wingers on the wrong side. Under Bowyer and Jackson regimes he has been used as a LHS wing back in the U23s as no suitable alternatives were available with Ogantayo and Dench out through injury..
Now under Garner who plays a back four he is being used as a full back and cover for Sessegnon. In one of the preseason games, I think it was at Dartford, he frequently got ahead of Jayesimi and delivered very good crosses. I have often thought that being versatile is not always a good thing. Garner should recruit a player able to cover for Sessegnon and allow Clayden to revert to his best position.
