London bound

I fly to the UK tonight deciding to go around the houses to get to Heathrow to avoid, at the time, striking BA staff and the seemingly unavoidable crazy cost of airline fares.

The cost of airline travel due to fuel rises and returning post pandemic demand is off the charts at the moment, and in Bermuda where BA monopolize the transatlantic route and we are still not back to a complete schedule, the cost of flights are rapacious.

Today I travel out via Philadelphia and return back the week after via Miami. The fare is 40% of what is was directly from Bermuda to Heathrow. All on American Airlines.

The next conundrum is working around the train strike especially as a few of us are making our way up to Accrington on Saturday.

At least the record breaking heatwave looks to have waned, although the forecast still requires factor 75, but the big difference is the humidity between here and the UK with Bermudaโ€™s mid-summer humidity mostly always hovering around 90%. ๐Ÿ˜“

I will spend the first few days at my parents down on the South Downs continuing their diamond anniversary celebrations that they started last week. ๐Ÿ’Ž

Flights are absolutely ridiculous at the moment and wouldn’t go anywhere near Heathrow at present with the huge delays etc! Will just be going to Sidmouth mid August to see my partners daughter and family, maybe next year abroad.

Anyway hope you don’t get held up and have good flights and enjoy your celebrations with your parents, as it definetly wouldn’t be worthwhile just coming over to see Charlton at Accrington! ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Heathrow was a cinch, but fully understand why families will decide on staying close this summer. Trains, roads, ports, airports all a nightmare.

I think that the BA strike has been called off…that said giving Heathrow the swerve is always a good idea.

We are in serious trouble. We Only really have two strikers and a young lad who is eighteen. I know what we can do Iโ€™ve found someone who is cheap cheap who could probably play up front and he is on the books . Our mascot , we need two strikers a centre half and a left sided full back. Get real everybody unless a couple of strikers get signed up before the transfer window closes we are going to be in trouble. I hope I am wrong but all the contenders have at least four good strikers .

Oh stop it all of you. Its obvious what we do. Get the charlton fan Russo to transition and you have your striker. The womens game is really showing the men in our league up. Accrington were the most depressing cynical team to watch last year. I may well avoid them at the valley this season. But hope its a good day out CA.
