Davison joins AFC Wimbledon

Josh Davison has joined Johnnie Jackson’s AFC Wimbledon on a 3-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
22-year old Davison joined in October 2019 and played 35 times, scoring 6 goals.
Jackson has already signed Chris Gunter and Davison joins six foot nine inch striker Kyle Hudlin at Plough Lane, who Jacko signed on loan from Huddersfield, who had paid a fee to Solihull Moors.
I hope that Josh can emulate the career that Joe Piggot has as his hard work deserves it. Good luck Josh.

Have to agree CA….JJ knows him well and I feel sure he will be an asset.
If we had been able to retain players who have departed Charlton and really blossomed at their new club, we would be a Champoinship outfit now.
Stability, foresight and strategy to progress in this difficult league is needed.
And Davison is none of those!
For all his hard work Josh Davison never made it in L1 but scored goals at L2 for Swindon last season, used properly as a centre forward feeding off the second ball I have no doubts he’ll do well.
I hope/assume we have a sell-on clause in the deal.
Good luck to Davison and Jackson at AFC Wimbledon. They both gave their best for Charlton and deserve some success. Davison is now at his level to score goals and hopefully Jackson will get the best out of him.
I suspect Davison pushed for the move as he feels that he should be a regular starter at this stage of his career. There has been mention of CAFCs interest in a young AFC W forward who is out of contract maybe that will now happen and the fees will cancel each other out.
I have always felt that Davison has been given the CF role in senior football too early and thought that would come in 2 or 3 years. he has played wide in the last 2 games and I thought that would benefit him short term. Wimbledon have Hudlin who I think is the tallest player in the game. I saw him play in the National League play offs for Solihull Moors and thought he was of limited ability.
With 5 subs available for use in the coming season I think we need 5 strikers. 2 in the starting 11, 2 on the bench and at least one other to cover for injury and suspensions. It is a shame that we lose Davison as I consider him significantly better than Jayesimi and Blackett-Taylor.
Agree on Hudlin. I thought he was terrible.
Good luck to Josh
Hopefully means this making way for a quality upgrade 🤞🏼
