Charlton Athletic 1 Gillingham 0

A deserved win and a vital one at that and in all honesty we couldn’t have asked for much more.
It feels a long time, that’s because it is, that Addicks had that winning feeling. Although there was more relief than anything else.
We played particularly well in the 1st half, pressed better, chased more determinedly and there was more intelligent approach play. CBT was excellent up and down the pitch and his pace and unpredictability gives us an important outlet.
I thought Gilbey, Dobson and Fraser played well individually and collectively which meant Gillingham didn’t really get a sniff, although six minutes of injury time was not good for the blood pressure.
I thought Washington was key again, he was rusty but his acumen and space-finding has been much missed. I also enjoyed watching Fraser, who simply should play every game now until the end of the season.
A very important win, and hopefully something to build on.
Jacko: “I thought the supporters were absolutely magnificent and my players responded to it. I thought we started the game really well, I thought we were completely dominant in the first-half and the one-goal lead was the least that we deserved going in at half-time.”
Neil Harris: “My only disappointment was a lack of quality in the final third. We got into some really good areas and just lacked that little bit of creativity. Ultimately we didn’t create enough clear-cut opportunities.”
