Accrington Stanley 2 Charlton Athletic 1

7 league games without a win and just one goal in five games, that a fortuitous penalty given for handball yesterday.
In full disclosure I gave yesterday a miss, deciding instead to do something more worthwhile than put myself through another hour and half of oppression.
Checking the score on Twitter we started well, won a few corners, had a shot saved and then took the lead. I checked back a bit later and we were 2-1 behind. The rot was back.
The 2nd half has been compared to some other dark days in our recent history. Not even a shot at goal in the last half hour after Stanley went down to 10-men. Rightly so I understand the players got slaughtered as they left the field by those Addicks that had made the journey.
It was a gutless performance and I have been slow to blame Jacko hoping he could turn this around but he looks lost and clueless and apparent clear the air talks are not improving defending, tactics, comradeship or frankly looking like they even give a toss.
Now with 10 games left we are bottom of the form table anxiously looking over our shoulder with a now massive game coming up Tuesday.
Jacko: “The players have to step up now. It’s my task to try and rebuild this team, this football club and I need to see who wants to be on that journey. Obviously, what I’m seeing at the minute is not good.”
John Coleman: “We have done the double over Charlton and play Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday – one of the fans said to me that was the stuff of dreams for Accrington Stanley years ago.”

So sad CA. I hate it when we start on our own players. I get frustrated too but I will never do that. As a great pundit of our time once said of Jacko – he’s not the answer. He was proved wrong that time as Jacko came on and scored with his first touch. I am guessing that all those who hectored for his appointment are feeling a bit silly now – and the criticism of giving him a performance related contract……. what can you say? Always easy with hindsight. There’s always next season and we do have an owner who cares. And I still love Dobson.
And a little handy hint for those in the commercial department – there is no point filling the Valley at the moment – those people will never come back.
Fully agree JJ not the manager to take the Club forward in either division one or division two.
Be lucky to fill a phone box next season never mind the valley.
Assume TS had other choices in mind before being railroaded into appointing Jackson, he needs advice and he needs it quick – two duff managerial appointments can’t afford another.
Jackson I’m afraid needs to go and no weeks of faffing again from TS, if the next 7 games are like the last we can and will go down.
These players have proved they can do it, just need coaching, organisation and tactics from someone who actually knows what they’re doing.
if Adkins had worked out, Jacko would have been a capable replacement after the three years, but I always thought it was too soon.
We need to play a formation that fits the players we have, not one that has square pegs in round holes.
Was hoping Terry Skiverton would make some difference but nothing seems to have changed much.
perhaps Curbs would be free to provide some advice and guidance?
where has the Passion and determination seen during Jacko’s caretaker period gone?
the problems are top to bottom at the moment, and I am starting to fear next season we will have the only cat 1 academy in league 2.
