Chris Parkes retires

After 34 years at the club, most of which I think as company secretary, Chris Parkes is to retire at the end of this month but will stay on in an ambassadorial role.
In recent troubled times he didn’t always receive the best reviews from some supporters, most of whom wouldn’t even know him, but generation after generation of player, coach, manager and colleague will never say a bad word about Mr Charlton as he is known in football circles.
Parkes knows where all the dead bodies are and had to endure some very tough times with some odious bosses in the workplace, which began in a portacabin at Selhurst.
I really hope he writes a book because he would sell plenty of copies!
An incredible club servant and a lifelong fan, enjoy your retirement Chris.
Top man

He is a good Charlton man but his wife did little for his reputation when she continually posted stupid and ill thought through comments about how good Duchatalet was.
Agree with Keith and hope this means we will see less (or better still nothing) of his wife.
Agree CA that would be a book worth getting! 🙂
So who do you think will replace him?
Not sure. Does Thomas have another son or daughter?
In all seriousness this is a key role and Chris will not be easily replaceable.
