Kirk on his way

Sounding more and more like Charlie Kirk’s short stay at The Valley will come to an end in this window.
There are talks of a permanent move back to the north-west with Blackpool, who obviously see things in him that we haven’t.
There is no doubt the boy has talent and has proven it at this level, but whether they are personal reasons, or he doesn’t fit into how Jackson wants the team to play, he has put in some pretty turgid performances in an Addicks’ shirt.
Kirk obviously fitted nicely into Thomas Sandgaard ‘s ‘black box’ and spent £500,000 on his signature in August, but it now looks as if his time in London will come to an end.
Question is whether that is a permanent end. Do we loan him out, allow the 24-year old to find his form, and bring him back in the summer or does Thomas attempt to recoup his outlay? I don’t expect for a minute Blackpool, or anyone else will pay half a million quid for him.
I honestly don’t know what is Kirk’s best position. He always wanted to drift inside like an inside forward, but he lacks pace and is certainly not a wing back.
One wonders if Albie Morgan will still go out considering he has suddenly been propelled back into the starting XI. Josh Davison, Chris Gunter and Deji Elerewe are other possibilities.
Word on the street is that a young Spurs player will be showing up at the training ground next, although Rich Cawley is talking of “an attacking addition.”
No loss, apart from Monetary if he goes, as not once in any of the games he has played has he looked to take on a player down the wing, but prefered to pass backwards! Yet he was brought in as one of the so called best wingers in the league. At least he will be able to actually go forward on the Big Dipper, if he signs for Blackpool. 🙂
When Liam Millar first arrived from Liverpool he was cutting inside and shooting all the time – unfortunately with little end product. This was quickly coached out of his game by Adkins. Presumably Kirk as his direct replacement has similar strengths but doesn’t seem to have the confidence to go inside or outside. From what we’ve seen from him to date he’d be lucky to make the Charlton 3rd team. Best gone tbh.
He’s a winger CA but not as we know it. Not enterprising enough. Even if he wants to stay l don’t think he should clingon. Time for him to be beamed up (to the North West). I thank you.
🛸🛸
Have heard we’re looking to loan a 20 year old right wing back from Spurs and he’s arriving tomorrow, so that would seem to tally with what you’ve said CA.
We’ve paid £500,000 for a winger lacking pace?
Charlie Kirk deserves a degree of understanding from us. He moved a long way south and during the transfer agreement, his father died. Not the best start to a new chapter.
My opinion is loan him out for this season. Then during the summer get the coaches/sport psychologists working with him and see if he can recover the form he showed at Crewe.
However, If he does not want to stay at Charlton, then a transfer would be best. But it will cost us, no one is going to reimburse us £500K.
It’s all very sad, at Crewe he was a ‘hot property’ whose signing was widely welcomed by CAFC fans.
