Play resumes

It’s been a little odd without football this Christmas week. Yet, it does look like we will be back in action on Saturday.
Jacko talked today of a decent sized group of players to pick from, but the unknown is which players are suffering Covid after-effects and have had none or little training due to isolation. It will certainly be hard to guess the line-up.
By EFL ruling we must have had close to around 7-8 players down with Covid, add to that the injuries and that would have meant we would’ve been down to less than 14 squad players. Despite Wimbledon’s grievances I assume there is a type of due process where EFL have to see evidence of tests and injury reports.
The Plymouth game seems an age ago, but has still left a bad taste in the mouth. As suspected a few of those that played were clearly carrying symptoms which showed in their performances.
Wycombe come to The Valley after playing yesterday, but before that they hadn’t played for 18 days. Gareth Ainsworth was self-isolating but they had a full squad to pick from in their defeat to Ipswich.
I wonder what sort of crowd there will be at The Valley on Saturday. A new range of protocols have been introduced, but don’t appear to overly affected attendances at the games played this week.
Can’t wait CA. And happy new year to you and your family. X
