Harry Arter next
At The Valley today was Harry Arter. The 31-year old midfielder will become Charlton’s next signing after agreeing a season-long loan deal from Nottingham Forest. I read that the deal may become permanent in the summer.
Arter signed a three-year deal at the City Ground a year ago but with problems aplenty at Forest Chris Hughton has written the Republic of Ireland international out of his plans, even though he is still picked by his country.
Arter has not played since a 3rd Round FA Cup game in January and will be lacking match-sharpness, but Scott Parker’s brother-in-law carved out a fantastic career for himself as a creative two-footed midfielder playing close to 400 games since being released by Charlton 13 years ago.
As recently as three seasons ago Arter played 25 Premier League games whilst on loan with Cardiff City and he will bring experience and I truly hope a hunger that Ben Watson has rarely shown with a good sprinkle of unfinished business.
This has been an interesting development from a loan perspective from Charlton. Arter and Elliot are both very experienced players, even Famewo is a know quantity and this is a move away from the untried and untested where we’ve had mixed success, some great of course, but some quickly forgotten.
