Charlton Athletic 0 Sheffield Wednesday 0

That was a bit of a non event at least on the pitch.
It was however a marvellous sight to see fans in the seats, home and away ends. It was a decent attendance for an August what with ambition seemingly being watered down by the owner.
On the owner, that is quite some ego to use the platform of the pitch to wallow in you own personal hobby. Dropping the Red Red Robin was a very poor choice and I trust that we will be back to normal on Tuesday.
The game blowed as a spectacle. Not one shot on goal the entire 90 minutes. Stockley perhaps came closest, although the most chances fell to new no. 10 Albie Morgan of which all were skied.
Bannon, as unlikeable as ever, had Wednesday’s best chance late in the 2nd half but skewed wide.
We were better in the 2nd half, but it was a hard watch, a combination of a lack of quality and options plus an awful lot of long ball.
I too could not fathom any real positive characteristics of a high tempo game that Nigel has promised.
The positives were a clean sheet headlined by Famewo and Inniss. Stockley who was named captain also had a good game. There is plenty of time to get better, and a little time to add a few more players.
Forever hopeful.

Yes and don’t forget Wednesday just came down but a lot of effort from both sides but no shots on target by both teams is a concern.
A fair result it seems and a clean sheet but IMHO still 4 or 5 players short and whether we bring in even one is questionable.
Yes, very early days but well done the supporters
The only real plus of the day was seeing fans back at the valley. It was an uninspiring game to watch.Although the first 3 or 4 games don’t necessarily give any indication of what may follow during the rest of the season,it was a worry that the long punt upfield was the ‘go to’ of getting the ball forward.I thought we were very light in midfield, and up front Stockley was the only player that worried Wednesday.
I have said previously that we need 5 or 6 quality players to hoist ourselves out of this league, and watching the game yesterday evening has confirmed my suspicions.
Disappointed with the game and in particular with seeming main tactic of long ball up to Stockley. It’s going to be a long and frustrating season if that is our main attacking method. We need some craft in midfield. Too many times back four looked up and punted for the head of Stockley. He’s handy in the air but surely that can’t be our main option.
Not the sort of football I want to watch, thank you very much. Poor quality in midfield, Morgan best of the three. Not at all impressed with NA’s use of substitutes, giving Davison 20 minutes alongside Stockley would have been interesting and bringing on Clayden with about 5mins. to go gave the lad little chance to have an impact. It will be interesting to see the team against AFC Wimbledon tomorrow night, in view of the small squad NA will need to protect Inniss and Stockley so Pearce and Davison will probably play. Worryingly TS seemed happy with the performance against ShW. Gallen and Rody need to up their game and find some quality signings. Letting Lapslie go last season is increasingly looking like a big mistake.
