Field back

In a week when we had it rammed home to us again that it’s only us fans who truly put our football team above self-absorbed footballers, it is great to see a young man who really wants to pull on a shirt and play.
Sam Field is back in SE7, back from injury and allowed by West Brom to continue his loan spell at Charlton.
“I’m delighted. I’m upset that it has taken so long but I’m happy we’re there now and hopefully I can contribute again to the team, I’m really looking forward to it.” (more)
Before his injury at Bristol City Field was impressive. Hungry, poised, tenacious. All characteristics we will need in our quest for survival. Field strengthens our already impressive array of midfielders, and his re-arrival will allow Bowyer to rotate Darren Pratley as we enter a crunching schedule of quick-fire matches.
Happy Saturday CA. Nearly kitchen pub opening time. I have got my fingers in my ears re Peter Varney – way too good to be true so not listening.
Been thinking about KyleLyle (always got his name muddled) and was I surprised? Not really. Does it make me feel the generation gap? Absolutely. The very least he could do was play until the end of his contract – so, whilst I hope that he has picked the right club for his future, and wish him well, I am bitterly disappointed in him. BUT I have to whisper this quietly. The way he recently started taking penalties has worried me and I have been waiting for his arrogance to bite him. And you know what would have happened don’t you? Last game – we need to win to stay up – gone 1-0 down in the first half. Naby has equalised in the 2nd half with a 30 yarder that breaks the back of the net. 92nd minute – we get a penalty…… Yup – I’m secretly glad it won’t be KyleLyle.
Is it Saturday LP? As long as Naby doesn’t take the penalty either 😂
Glad to see Field is back with us as he will be good cover for Pratley as a defensive midfielder.
I wonder how many of the U23s are training with the first team squad, hopefully Vennings and Mingi who both could breakthrough this season. Vennings is technically good but needs to get stronger. Mingi is a big strong and pacy defender who we may have seen already but for picking up an injury at the end of 2019.
The more I saw of Sam Field the more impressed I was with him – granted he took a few matches to settle into the DM position, but it is a tough spot to play and I could see why Bow and galen recruited him. He’s comfortable on the bal and has a cool head on his shoulders and it’s important that he wants to play. With so many matches coming up we need extra numbers in that position.
I liked what I saw and heard from Field. I hope he makes it big in the game starting later this month.
