Lucas Ness signed from the Met

The Metropolitan Police FC have announced that we have signed 18-year old defender Lucas Ness.
Ness only turned 18 a week or so ago and the Police therefore were unable to tie him to a contract prior to his 18th birthday. Equally the Southern League side are also due no compensation.
Ness was once on the books of Fulham, and has been heavily scouted this season, and Brendan Rogers had him on trial early in the season.
The Addicks have had some great successes picking young players out from the non-leagues and incorporating them into our academy sides. Ademola Lookman, Joe Aribo come instantly to mind and recently we have had the good fortune to watch Josh Davison who was signed from Enfield Town. The U23’s has others that started their youth career outside the football league proving there are some real gems out there.
Meanwhile I hope that Matt Southall and ESI do the right thing and offer some money to the Met Police, who are funded in part by the police staff lottery. We are the first to cry foul if one of our young players is ‘stolen’ for nothing, and the non-league and English football pyramid needs protecting.
Lucas Ness is probably the trialist who has made recent appearances for the U23s. He looked capable and will be an addition to other promising central defenders of similar age like Mingi, Vega, Keefe and French. As he is only just 18 I think he can still play for the U18 side this season if required.
Assuming he’s been given a contract I guess we should send first team there for a pre season game at the very least.
I guess he has been given a pro contract. A pre season game is a great idea. I once went to a game at Imber Court.
