Phew, didn’t we need that!

I don’t know where the referee found all that injury time – across both halves it was over 10 nerve shredding minutes. Given our track record of conceding late goals…
Overall a game of two halves – the first we were comfortable, Taylor took his goal well, a training ground move – free kick flicked on and he beat the defensive line and poked the ball past the keeper. The second would have been another training ground move but Naby Saar missed the header which fell into the path of Green. We ran out of steam after 60 minutes – a raft of substitutes disrupted our rhythm a bit too much and we weren’t really in it after then.We rode our luck a fair bit – Barnsley hit the woodwork three times and Dillon Phillips pulled off a couple of great saves but that’s three points and a six pointer under our belts.
We missed Taylor when he went off because he tracks back so well, great at defending from the front. I worry for Williams as he gets little protection from Referees so McGeady is a good signing. Green looks a promising partner for Taylor. Doughty is promising but the defensive side of his game needs to improve. Pratley again put in a shift playing regularly suits him.
Having 5 midfield players in on loan means that Morgan, Dempsey and possibly Vennings should go out on loan but because the loan recruits came in late they can only go Non-league.
Understatement CA. All the talk of who we have signed and haven’t – I couldn’t care less because I trust Bowyer & Co. All we need to do this season is stay up and give them a chance to truly start building. If we could beat the scum on the way that would put the icing on the cake for me. I was reminded yesterday just how I used to feel pre-Duchatelet when I missed a home game – it it wasn’t a pleasant feeling. Will make sure I don’t miss too many more. And BTW – I don’t want to be the next Man City – I want us to build a side/club properly – not just buy success (and they aren’t looking so good now, are they?).
