Marcus Maddison bid accepted

Maybe when Matt Southall and Darragh MacAnthony met in Costa last week for a latte more than coffee was on their minds. Turns out that Peterborough chairman MacAnthony has accepted a bid from Charlton for midfielder Marcus Maddison. Two other Championship clubs have put in bids but only the Addicks have permission to talk to the player.
26-year old Maddison’s contract contains a £2.5m buyout clause and expires this summer. Southall and Steve Gallen will now meet the player to discuss terms.
We have a richness of talent in midfield, although half of them are injured and they do include three loan players.
Maddison has scored 62 league goals for Posh in 200 games. He has also assisted over 50 goals in the past two and half seasons.
He was their best player against us back in Feb at their place. Great left foot, tenacious, strong, good age and played over 210 games in the last 6 years.
As much i love Jonny Williams and to a lesser degree Chuks, these are players that cannot be relied upon to play 30-40 games a season. We took the risk when signing these players and so cannot be surprised with the regularity that they break down.
