Barnsley 2 Charlton Athletic 2

Barnsley haven’t lost at home for 17 months, so very happy grabbing a late point on Saturday. Lyle Taylor as cool as you like from the spot.
Barnsley are technically very good and had some strong moments and we appeared to struggle when they ran at us. We are overloaded with midfielders but feel we still need more Championship quality at the back, but were good going forward and our late revival coincided with Aneke coming on for a tiring Leko.
The game overall sounded pretty even, and it was an entertaining game as Bowyer’s plan to hit them quickly using width worked. Conor Gallagher finishing off a fine move for an equalizer before the break. The busy Jonny Williams with an assist.
One downside was Chris Solly going off with a head injury which will be two weeks on the sidelines.
Addicks at Oakwell: Doctor Kish;
Bow: “It’s crazy. I just said to the players there ‘I’m disappointed with the point.”
Elsewhere: Leeds sit top. Patrick Bamford scoring both in the away win at Wigan. WBA came from behind to win at Luton, 10 man Millwall beat Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City beat QPR 2-0, Forest beat Birmingham 3-0 and Swansea beat Preston 3-2. Reading got their first points on Sunday thrashing Cardiff 3-0 and on Friday night Fulham won at Huddersfield resulting in the first managerial sacking of the season. I can’t see how Jan Sieward can be judged on the Terriers start to the season, but 1 win in 7 months is pretty woeful. Just questions why the board waited. Odd.
