The final day

24 hours until the transfer deadline passes, and not a rumour in sight, wild, concrete or otherwise. I don’t know what the Flemish is for deja vu, but this is stonewall Duchatelet. How many times has he left us in this situation..
At the turn of the year our squad was down to the bare bones with not ready kids sat on the bench. Since the new year Jonny Williams, Chris Maxwell and Ben Purrington have come in. Jed Steer, Jamie Ward, Nicky Ajose and Karlan Grant have left, so we are one down on numbers. Billy Clarke potentially also leaves tomorrow.
Lee Bowyer said there are five or six strikers they are looking at, and I belive in him and Steve Gallen I really do. Also I suspect following Grant’s move we may be shopping in a different isle. Gone an option to Taylor and Grant. Now we need a new Grant, and we still need the option as well. Igor, who played 45 minutes yesterday, is still weeks away. Beyond that it is the headline writers dream of Reeco Hackett-Fairchild and Wilberforce Ocran!
Oh and just to remind ourselves 12 current players have their contracts running out in June. With Grant already gone, Steve Gallen gave us the better news that George Lapslie, Joe Aribo and Dillon Phillips could all put pen to paper soon. Could.
Could sign and yes I picked this up and CAFC lucky to get even one free transfer in, either a donkey past it or a useless 17 year old. Only at CAFC right!!!
Hackett Fairchild is promlsing and could cover for Taylor in the next two games but needs an experienced striker alongside him. Ocran is not an option as far as I am concerned he is just not good enough for league football and the new signing Aouachria from Marsielle has failed to impress so far. Vetokelle played 45 minutes in the U23s against Crystal Palace but looked like he will need time to be ready for a return to 1st team duty. Dijksteel was outstanding and put on a show and I felt he was putting himself in the shop window, so I will not be surprised if he leaves today hopefully on loan and not a permanent deal
