Left back in on loan

Ben Purrington has signed on loan until the end of the season. Purrington is a Rotherham player but has played every league game at Wimbledon this season where he has been on loan.
That alone makes a welcome change to bringing in a loan player that is either returning from injury or an inexperienced young player from a big club that is looking to get some games under his belt. As Lee Bowyer said “the big positive is that he’s played every game at Wimbledon and is ready to go.”
The west country lad started his career at Plymouth. He played 50 plus games for the Pilgrims before signing for Rotherham for £300,000 fee. He has played close to 100 games.
A left back was much needed to give us much better defensive balance, and it’s good to see Bowyer and Gallen doing these deals early. Apparently despite a minuscule budget the management team still hope to bring in another attacking option. To balance the books I suspect Nicky Ajose may well be offloaded though.
Good signing given our injuries, but I’d be sad if this mean’t Solly returning to RB and Dijksteel dropping to the bench. I think Dijksteel has looked really good this season since he came in and it’d be a shame if one of our youngsters had their development hampered by a loan signing who may only be here for 6 months. But maybe I am being too sentimental!
Dijksteel has done ‘ok’ but has been found wanting and out of position, resulting in goals against- check back and see how many have come from his side. Solly a must at RB, BAUER /SARR CB’s Purrington LB
Good news about all the new signings. All of them good quality additions. I just hope there isn’t a sting in the tail to fund all this, like the sale of one of our promising youngsters?
