Bradford City 0 Charlton Athletic 2

Lovely result today. Bradford’s league place belies them, they are loudly backed at Valley Parade and it is always a tough place to win.

But win we did. It was a gritty display, perhaps with an added nasty streak. Yet we showed some good skill, were determined, focused and scored with a couple of superb finishes. My, we could be talking about Bowyer the player.

I am more than happy Bow has introduced a tough streak. For too long we have been easy pushovers. We are going to pick up bookings though, that’ll we need to deal with.

And how heartening is it to see our two strikers both score. Taylor looks a player doesn’t he? And Grant is a complete different proposition from what we knew before. Their partnership is developing nicely and genuinely seem to like each other.

Josh Cullen by all accounts was a cut above today, and will provide plenty of ammunition for the front two. And still we have Fosu, Bielik, Clarke and a fitter Ward to come.

At the half I was worried, naturally, that we should’ve had more than one goal to our name. And of course the Bantams put us under pressure in a 20-minute spell in the 2nd half. They appeared to get a ton of corners, but Steer didn’t need to better his early save before Grant put us ahead.

Then when all you want is a goal to secure the 3 points, up steps Lyle Taylor baby.

Addicks at Valley Parade:
Bow: “I’m delighted for the pair of them. They worked hard and they deserved their reward today.”
Elsewhere: Pompey won the top of the table clash at Peterborough whilst Barnsley lost at Coventry, Sunderland lost at Burton and Walsall were thrashed by Donny. Ian Henderson got a hat trick as Rochdale won 3-0 at home to Gillingham and Scunthorpe held on to win 3-2 at Wimbledon.

We were there CA!! Lovely goals and Lyle got his just reward for all the stick he took from the defenders all afternoon. Northerners! The only downside for me is two of our players taking a dive – one worse than the other. We really, really don’t have to stoop that low do we? Please, please tell me that Forest man is not coming to our club. COYR

    • LP – glad you were there. Yeah, the diving needs to stop and not helping our yellow card count. As for Al-Hasawi. I don’t have a clue accept I heard that they broke a NDA by tweeting a photo of themselves. Clever lot..

The results this season show how important it is at Div1 level to have a good partnership up front i.e.Grant and Taylor. Last season Magennis was left unsupported by Robinson. Taylor has scored 5 goals 4 from assists by Grant. However, with the present squad we have no viable cover for Grant and Taylor in the event of injury or suspension,

    • Well, when Flanagan and Hales were injured or more likely suspended, we had to rely on Tony Burman 😀
