Aye, aye captains

Jason Pearce will wear the captain’s armband next season but Chris Solly will takeover Jacko’s role as club captain. Seems like a nice resolution for both men, Pearce a visible leader and Solly, who this season celebrates 10 years, Charlton through and through.

Pearce will lead the side out later today in the Addicks final pre-season friendly. Solly is also expected to play as we expect to get a glimpse of the team Lee Bowyer will put out in a week’s time at Sunderland. The bench maybe interesting, but should include Rohan Ince.

Bowyer is hoping for another testing match against Norwich as we enter the final week of pre-season. There was a decent crowd in the west stand against Brighton in the week. Naby Sarr scored a beauty. If you haven’t seen it, then you should. Elliot Ward also impressed, but if we can hold on to Patrick Bauer next week I have to think that Bowyer’s limited budget will focus on a striker and a loan goalkeeper.

The excitement is palpable isn’t it..
