Pratley makes it two

As expected, and I think in most corners, hoped Darren Pratley became Lee Bowyer’s second summer signing. The 33-year old midfield general played 35 times last season for Bolton in The Championship, where he was their captain.

Pratley posed in the new away shirt today at The Valley. He will be a good addition and an experienced leader and has played 458 appearances through his career, mostly at Swansea and Bolton.

Steve Gallen says they are working on one or two more signings, but as quick as they come in, another one falls. Today we were told that Igor Vetokele will be out for the start of the season after picking up a foot injury at Welling. An acute tear in the plantar fascia takes time to heel and I wouldn’t be surprised if he is out for a couple of months.

I hope Pratley turns out to be a good signing but I am concerned we only seem able to sign free transfers. If we are hoping for promotion we should be investing in the squad.Although 3 or 4 good loan deals would help. As you know I think some of the U23s are very promising and one or two may breakthrough this season particularly Albie Morgan but that is not certain
I cannot understand what is happening with the takeover if the Aussies are serious surely it would have been finalised by now.

  2. rierti – I don’t expect for a minute we are shopping for players anywhere else other than frees and loans. Plus I’m expecting more to leave. I’m getting annoyed that Bowyer and Gallen have started to tow the company line that he only needs one or two more players and a smaller squad is better blah blah

A Good Player, whilst many fellow BWFC fans disliked his game, I personally think in the right team, with the right tactics, Prattely will serve you well, of course his wages came into the equation at Bolton, part of the animosity by supporters “was he worth the money in a struggling team”

I take if the players around him and tactics played to suit the team, I’d say Pratley was worth every penny of his wages! If your reading this Pratt’s Best Wishes for your future!
