AFC Wimbledon 1 Charlton Athletic 0

That was awful..

That was poor tonight from the Addicks, as the team went back in time showing a severe lack of imagination and belief on the pitch giving us all once again a reality check that we possibly are not good enough for a top six berth. Certainly Wigan, Blackburn and Shrewsbury are on a different planet to us, and we have to play two of them in our last five games.

We have to hope that Bowyer and Jackson, a big test now of their fledgling managerial qualities, can get the players up for the remaining games because they are each against better teams than Bristol Rovers and AFC Wimbledon.

Not for the first time AFC Wimbledon out fought and out battled us all over the pitch, and they are rapidly becoming our bogey team. In fact it also underlines how horribly rubbish we are in derby games. No Millwall or Palace, yet we still find someone to embarrass our fans locally.

The Dons goal came from another defensive mistake, this time from Patrick Bauer, and we had too many players not on it tonight, especially offensively. We did hit the post late in the 2nd half, but we hardly had a shot on goal and on tonight’s evidence Wimbledon’s players care more about saving themselves from relegation, than ours do getting promoted.

Back down to earth with a thud for Lee Bowyer, who before Saturday thought we could win every game until the end of the season. The players proved that is beyond them, yet it is still in our own hands. The next week is critical.

Albie Morgan is still an under 18 but has become a regular in the u23’s in the last couple of months. Three other u18 midfielders that show promise are Alfie Doughty Ben Dempsey and Brendon Sarpong-Wiredu and like Albie Morgan they have started to appear in the u23’s,
Players of promise in the u23’s squad that you may have heard of are Lapslie, Maloney, Mascoll and Hackett Fairchild .Mascoll and Hackett Fairchild have had injury problems in recent times.
Also Phillips and Dijksteel will be established first team squad players ,next season.
