Charlton Athletic 0 Shrewsbury Town 2

At least we didn’t let ourselves down in front of a big crowd..

I’m struggling in bed with the flu, and not just the ‘man’ type, but managed to listen to us get soundly beaten by a team so much better than us in every way on Saturday. Other than the first five minutes Shrewsbury dominated us. It was hardly the promotion encounter I had hoped for, hoping in vein, that we might step up and show some promotion credentials ourselves.

Robinson seems unable to take us to the next level. Paul Hurst did him tactically. Shrewsbury were better coached, quicker, sharper, fitter and hungrier and it was rather uncomfortable afterwards listening to him blame the players for not taking his instructions out onto the field.

Playing us doesn’t take much intelligence at the moment. We have to, it seems, wait for a moment of brilliance to score, whereas others are able to neutralize our single-minded way of playing and get simply worked goals against us. There is no plan B, even if Robinson went at lengths to explain one after.

We are nowhere the quality of the top three, the next three, and the three or four below us, possibly we might be. The season is a long way from being over, but I think there is a narrowing in confidence that Robinson can bring about a catalyst of a successful run of results that will not only force us into the top six, but then make us one of the favourites.

Sadly I can’t help but feel that if we do sneak into the play-off’s, we have no chance over two legs against the teams around us. Not unless something changes dramatically.

No playmaker of quality in the side on Saturday.Poor management during the game by KR. I could not understand why he replaced DaSilva(injured) with Ajose. Surely Reeves would have been a better option. Are Ajose, Kaikai and Zyro better than Ahearne Grant? – I don’t think so!. To send KAG out on loan without call back option indicates poor judgement .
