Doncaster Rovers 1 Charlton Athletic 1

Why the late subs Karl, why?..

A game dominated but our extreme inability to not put teams away is becoming the story of our season. 15 points we have thrown away in the dying moments of games – Doncaster (a), Oxford (h), Blackpool (h), MK Dons (h), Walsall (a).

We dominated for much of the game but at both ends we are coming up short. If we want to be the team that wins 1-0 each week, then we need a back four that is able to see out games. Yes, there was a lucky deflection leading to Donny’s goal, but what was Lennon doing sat so deep playing Blair onside?

We did sound comfortable but I’m at a loss to understand why Robinson took off Dasilva, a player good at ball retention and able to carry it up the pitch, and replaced him with a clearly unprepared Lennon. Robinson can blame players on not being ruthless, but to me it looked like he managed the game badly from the sidelines.

The results went well for us again, but we should really be a fixture in the top 6, not looking up at it, and we have to be able to finish games, because if we can’t then we won’t get through a two-legged semi-final play-off, let alone the rest of the season.

I agree. Why take off De Silva who was voted our best player on one site And after crying out we needed new strikers, we get them and they don’t play. Stupid is as stupid does…

  3. Un-bloody-believable.

Well actually it isn’t! It’s become quite normal. How many points have been thrown away in the last ten minutes of games this season?

    • That’s 15 Steve. And I think we have gained just one (Peterborough).

    • Daggs – I’d like to see KR finish the job, but if this is his interview then he needs to do a lot better.

Send Robinson back to the changing room on 85 minutes and all will be fine – following by text update, as soon as I saw the da Silva sub I thought uh oh here we go again
If by some miracle we manage to stumble into the play offs and if, by even stranger quirk of fate get to the final and are winning 1-0 headed into injury time I’ll be off home
I love him for the way he’s trying to heal the wounds but game management…Jackson have a word please

    • Steve. Exactly my thoughts. The commentary team were raving about Dasilva and when he took him off, my thoughts were just like yours. Why change the skeleton of the team so much. He had JJ up top and Magennis wide. Easy for us to say, but didn’t seem like a good idea.

Making subs so late in the game is a poor tactic it takes players time to get settled into the games.Bringing on subs for injuries is easy to understand but tactical subs need more thought when you are winning.I would prefer subs to be brought on earlier and spread over a greater time span.Bring on one sub and let the side settle for 8-10 minutes before bringing on the next,Of course the situation is different when your losing your changes can be more urgent.
