Phew

For the first time in Duchatelet’s reign we didn’t pull our pants down and have a player boot sale in Valley car park on deadline day. Despite the vultures circling, credit where credit’s due, the club resisted offers for Josh Magennis, Tariqe Fosu, and hot interest in Ezri Konsa and go forward for the rest of the season which looks a very competitive squad, depending on injuries of course.

Bolton cam knocking for Magennis after losing Gary Madine to Cardiff, but a number of revised bids were rejected last last night.

Karl Robinson said a variety of offers were made for Konsa, but the young defender stays put as does the important Fosu, who Leeds were reportedly in for.

One surprise perhaps was ex-Oakwood Park Grammar School pupil Aaron Barnes moving permanently to Colchester United. The full back was on the edges of the first team, but didn’t appear to have quite enough to make him a fixture like Aribo, Konsa and Djiksteel.

Nicky Ajose is back at the club after a year with Swindon firstly and then Bury, where he has struggled for game time, mostly due to managerial changes at Gigg Lane. Ajose was a big signing on the back of his only one prolific season and the 26-year old has a lot to prove. His game doesn’t suit Robinson’s style, but he may come in useful off the bench.

He even sounds chuffed to be back.

  1. Fair play to Uncle Roly if, as you say a variety of bids for Konsa were rejected. He could have overiden any ‘club’ decision not to sell Konsa as a little goodbye present to the fans, unless I suppose the advanced stages of selling the club to new owners meant that player comings and goings were restricted largely to loans.

  2. Yes but we kept being told a sale is on for February and yes it was a personal opinion of Mr Murray, but then he told his staff.at CAFC!!!
Why say it and he must know more than meet the eye and more lies?? not coming out.and the Owner asking for a ridiculous amount of money. Just how much money do these people need FFS
Yes, indeed give Robbo and others a bit of credit in this window and just hope Konso will continue to give his all, which IMHO he will.
Very interesting Lookman’s loan signing and frankly should be in the Everton’s side much more and yes still young, but if one is good enough!!!
