P-P

Seems like the referee wanted to be centre of attention yesterday. Those 4-500 poor Addicks who hauled it up the motorway, about a 550-mile round trip wasted. Nonetheless, like him or not, I was proud of the way Karl Robinson led the players to observe the Jimmy Armfield tributes both inside and outside Bloomfield Road. Robinson may never get labelled as ‘proper Charlton’ but what he and the players did yesterday after the referee scuppered a game of football, and more than that, a memorial to a footballing legend, was a touch of class and one as a Charlton fan I was proud to see and read about. Addicks fans too, as we’d expect, also joined in the homage to Armfield, who died a week ago.

I’m too young to remember Jimmy Armfield playing and vaguely remember him managing, but it was his soothing and knowledgeable radio voice that I remember most fondly. For 30 years he gave his learned opinion for the BBC sat on gantries in all weathers. Live 5Live games won’t be the same. RIP Jimmy.

I hope referee Carl Boyeson slept well last night. And I don’t know what went on between Karl Oyston and Robinson, but I know who I’d rather trust.

From a footballing perspective it was a shame we didn’t play as we have been on a mini resurgence, and now we have to go up there on a Tuesday night. At least MK Dons lost at home to Coventry In the Cup, which means our game there next month will still go ahead. In the League we had a good day with the results with Bradford, Scunthorpe (well done Powelly) and Pompey all losing.

Robinson said that Sullay Kaikai and Michal Zyro did not travel to Blackpool. We now have another week to integrate them into the squad, and another week to get others fit.

In the meantime we have until Wednesday night at 11pm to keep the rest of the squad together.

Yes, well to be fair the tribute from CAFC and even more importantly the Wonderful supporters was to be expected, but still alot of class.
Interesting indeed when you mention “proper”Charlton as so many players been a total waste of space and indeed those hangers on supporters, who claim they are, but the likes of one so called live commentary team on matches and which has a review on Thursday and supposedly Sunday night do not pay an admission price at all home or away and always claim so much credit for doing this voluntary.
But they get the prestige and yes they even moan about the weather and getting the man flu.
Tough, if you do not like it stop moaning!!!

Haven’t seen Robinson’s comments re Zyro CA, but I can assure he got off the coach.

Sorry, have I missed something, the picture of the waterlogged pitch on the CAFC website looked definitive what else could the ref do but postpone. I remember the farcical match at the valley against Doncaster 3 years(?) ago when it was obvious the ref took too long to make the decision to abandon the game.Robinson said in the week that he was changing tactics for the game as it was the worst pitch in the league, which to me implies Blackpool FC don’t maintain it properly.

I suppose my point was that it didn’t suddenly get waterlogged at 2.05pm. Don’t know why he couldn’t have made an earlier decision. Think it had rained all week.
