Norwich City 4 Charlton Athletic 1

Can’t be too disappointed..
The Addicks League Cup campaign ended tonight at Norwich, despite us taking an early lead through Lee Novak. There was no embarrassment though and although Norwich deserved their victory, it somewhat flattered them in the end. We had a couple of chances at 1-2, but then fell to two late goals which gave the result an unfair polish.
Robinson put 6 academy players in and Dijksteel in particular was given a tough time against the impressive Murphy, although on the radio Dean Kiely was complimentary towards the young right back, who never gave up and wasn’t playing in his preferred position. Clarke and Fosu both played but Norwich were no pushovers and have a lot of quality that we hopefully can compete with again one day. At least we can now concentrate on the league!
Quote: “This is the philosophy, ethos and DNA of Charlton Athletic – that young players should be given an opportunity.”

Whilst I agree, it was bit embarrassing this morning to have a Norwich supporting friend describing Charlton as ‘lacklustre’. But it clearly wasn’t worth putting out a full squad.
