Thank Vale

“Yesterday I felt the first pangs of a new season. Pearce’s signing bringing me out of a sweaty summer stupor, helped or hindered, I can’t work out which, by the fact that I finally added the fixtures to my calendar.”me the day before the season started in August.

Fast forward 7 months and on a cold chilly night in Bermuda there I am searching for the Port Vale score and punching the air to celebrate a Vale defeat. Mark Robins’ Coventry, who are all but relegated, were 2-0 up at half-time. Kyel Reid scored a stunning opener and won their first game in seven. Relegation would mean Coventry playing in the 4th tier for the first time in 58 years.

For us a Vale win would have seen them move to within 3 points of us, with two games in hand and the Addicks would be staring at just a 4 point difference to Shrewsbury, who also have a game in hand over us. With us not playing on Saturday and with MK Dons at Vale and Gillingham home to Peterborough we could find ourselves 17th. Fortunately Oldham, Shrewsbury and Bury host the top three.

Finally Dave has updated the novel that is the history of Katrien Meire’s disastrous reign as the club’s CEO. It’s a long depressing read and as Dave says we can only pray that we are on the final page of her Charlton horror story.

  1. When RD finally sells up that should be the end of KM in football in England, and with that CV she’ll also be lucky to find another job in football anywhere in the world. I can’t wait for the house of cards to collapse, It’s unfortunate for all that it was our club they chose. Three years of going backwards will come to an end when they go! COYR
