Charlton Athletic 0 MK Dons 0

After a week of plenty of talking Karl Robinson’s team were rather mute on the pitch today in front of less than 5,000 supporters of Robinson’s new and old clubs. It was a lackluster performance that delivered none of the promise of goals, buckling up, entertainment and on the edge of your seat. Not much of any new manager bounce either.

But the Karl Robinson revolution is going to take time, and a few different players. Maybe more than a few. Neither of which Roland Duchatelet has been keen on giving Robinson’s umpteen predecessors.

Robinson said that he does not have the squad to play his preferred 4-2-3-1 and will have to wait until January bringing no doubt the regular upheaval and churning of players very familiar to us under this regime. Before the transfer deadline we play five league games, four of which are away to Bradford, Millwall, his old club MK Dons and Southend as well as the visit of Peterborough.

He may well have to blend Slade’s negative tendencies with his higher intensity style until he is able to change personnel, but he also needs to bring goals and creativity on a more regular basis. One five goal feast in Bristol does not make a summer!

Anyway we are in the hat for the FA Cup 3rd Round, but not before a 5th away game this festive month. It’s a tough start for Robinson, maybe he should have done his talking later?
