Jordan Cousins

136 games and in every single one, from those early days in 2012 as a back-up right back and then in his first full season in The Championship under Powell and then Riga, right up until half a game at Welling on Saturday, Jordan Cousins never shirked a tackle, always ran his socks off and wore the red shirt as if every game was a cup final.

Many, many players in recent seasons under Roland Duchatelet’s reign are undeserving to be part of our special club’s history but young men like Jordan Cousins are the reason why Charlton are such a special football club.

A ‘Made in Charlton’ youth product who Addicks’ fans always had high hopes for, Jordan went on to be a critical part of our fight to remain in The Championship in difficult and unsettling circumstances. The two times Player of the Year winner made us and the youth academy proud and he deserves his opportunity. Whilst other young players play a handful of games and can’t wait to get their big pay day, Jordan showed loyalty and a real fight for the cause.

Jordan tweeted yesterday that “Charlton Athletic will forever hold a place in my heart.” Well Jordan, as you will be with us. The very best of luck for the future.

Absolutely. I really hope he can enjoy his football again. Good luck jordan. I was able to watch him play from primary age and he was always a cut above.
