Charlton Athletic 1 Rotherham United 1

Quite pleased really because I had a real bad feeling about today. At the end we could blame poor finishing, a dreadful refereeing decision or thank Nick Pope for keeping us in it with a couple of tremendous saves.

I wrote this week that today would be a proper examination of our credentials this season. We are probably none the wiser. We played okay it seems from the radio commentary but equally as my brother put it, it was “typical us.”

Certainly the introduction of Big Mak livened us up and it was the Dane that set up Patrick Bauer for the equaliser, which followed a corner. Nick Pope had stopped the Millers going 2-0 up when he saved Andreu’s close range header, which would have been game over. Lee Camp was hardly rubbish though.

Rotherham’s opener according the club’s official Twitter feed came as a result of the worst referee’s decision since ‘that’ throw on at home to Fulham in 2007! Quite an acheivement from Keith Stroud. Mind you they still had to score from the corner!

21 shots on target from the Addicks, which last season would have taken us about 10 games to achieve, so we can take comfort from that even though I think the team lacks goals. That is unless we can find the Igor that we first signed.

It could have been worse, and another game Tuesday to put things right. Although Luzon has so few options available to him it is almost impossible for him to make more than superficial changes.

Boro beat MK Dons 2-0, Clayton Donaldson’s first half hat trick helped Birmingham beat Bristol City 4-2 and Burnley beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-1. Earlier today Forest won at 10-man QPR.
