Reading 0 Charlton Athletic 1

I too was in the camp of not expecting anything from today’s game. Our record at Reading is terrible. Only two ever wins – one in 1981 and one in 1922. Yes, you read that correctly.
Reading had scored 3 goals in four of their last five home games and it was going to be a real test, especially for a Rhoys Wiggins less defence.
Yet Bob Peeters and the players had not read the script and spirit, desire and organization plus a young man called Igor Vetokele were to give the noisy travelling Addicks another enjoyable away day.
Even listening in at home to Pete and Tel on the radio it came across as a remarkably assured display from the Addicks, a classic away performance that added 3 more points to our total.
To win before the next international break is very satisfying and there sounded some stalwart performances from players such as Jordan Cousins and Chris Solly as well as the brick wall that is Tal Ben Haim and Andre Bikey. Morgan Fox also did everything that was asked.
Henderson’s handling sounded impeccable on a bad weather day and Harriott appeared to play his part. Igor took his one chance like we know he can, and substituted with a slight calf problem, I hope Bobby sent him home with a truck load of cotton wool.
Shame George couldn’t have grabbed us a 2nd, but that might have been a little greedy. Come on you reds!
