Fantastic to see Joe Gomez agree to an extended contract and great credit to the club for pursuing this and getting it across the line.

Joe is an exciting talent and has stepped into the 1st team like an old hand when required this season, and committing to the club means Addicks will get to enjoy Joe for a lot longer and we won’t have the painful suffering of seeing a academy graduate leave for nothing like we did in the summer.

The club have also signed 16-year old Elan Assiana and 20-year old Ayo Obileye, both defenders and hopefully names we will become familiar with like Joe Gomez.

Finally I got back to the hotel last night and had the regular perusal of BBC Sport and woke this morning and thought I’d dreamt it. But yes, Watford really have kicked out Billy McKinley and hired their fourth manager of the season! Incredible!.

The Pozzo family were not said to be keen on McKinley as head coach, and rather he be on the coaching staff, which McKinley refused.

The Pozzo’s have appointed Slavisa Jokanovic as the 4th Watford boss in 37 days. The ex-Chelsea midfielder has managed in Serbia and Thailand. Watford have had a great season thus far, but how long the players and their fans can continue in this veil of confusion remains to be seen.

McKinley meanwhile has been installed as favourite for the Fulham job, a job that every single Fulham fan thinks should go to Kit Symons. Never a dull moment in The Championship.
