Call for Morrison

With Tal Ben Haim missing tomorrow’s game at home to Birmingham one would have think Peeters will turn to Michael Morrison to play in his first league game of the campaign.

Morrison is not as cultured in his style as Bikey and Ben Haim, but he is no clogger either and he deserves his opportunity, and I hope he grabs it. Morrison might be a bit game rusty, but he is known as a hard trainer and would have been privvy to the same drills and methods as everyone else and I see no problem with him playing.

On Ben Haim sitting out tomorrow due to Yom Kippur, I think Bob, the club and Ben Haim have acted in a honourable and grown up way in respecting the Israeli’s religious beliefs. In the days of attempted inclusivity in the game, we as fans should be proud that Charlton continue to try to do things the right way and I am sure his team mates respect his request too. Certainly Morrison will!

Joe Gomez and Johann Berg Gudmundsson are expected to both not be fit for tomorrow’s game.

Elsewhere in The Championship the inevitable happened in Bolton today with Dougie Freedman leaving The Reebok. They have had a dreadful start to the season and Southend’s Phil Brown has been installed as favourite by the bookies. Brown played over 250 games for the Trotters between 1988 and 1994.

I see Charlton are getting a little bit more press, which normally makes me nervous. The BBC asked Bob a few questions here and the Ipswich game has been switched a lunch time kick off for Sky.

Meanwhile as I write this Blackpool are getting some press of their own as their fans demonstrate against owner Karl Oyston. Apprently José Riga gave his permission for a during the game walkout. Riga said he understands why the fans would protest against the owner and he and the players won’t be upset.
