Henderson joins

The club announced the signing of Stephen Henderson on a 3-year deal this morning.

The 26-year old goalkeeper was a free agent after having his West Ham contract mutually cancelled last week. Originally it was suggested that we were going to take him on loan, but the issue was his 20k a week wages.

Henderson, 3rd choice at Upton Park, would have taken a big pay cut to challenge for the number one spot at The Valley, which is encouraging and Ben Roberts knows him well from the season Henderson had at Yeovil a few years back.

I would still like to see a couple of more players join, I think we continue to lack some creativity in midfield. One player who should play at Ebbsfleet on Wednesday is trialist Martin Matumba (photo). The 29-year winger has played most of his career in Sweden but only signed for Turkish club Çaykur Rizespor in January.

Also it was interesting to see that Chris O’Grady uses the same atlas as Dale Stephens. O’Grady signed for Brighton after saying he didn’t want to move south from Yorkshire, but I suppose 15k a week does get you a decent train ticket home once in a while!

  1. Whoops. Looks like Matumba is at Millwall on trial. That’s the trouble scouring the internet at the airport waiting for an early morning flight!!

See that CAFC have gone for someone with a bit of experience as I mentioned after the Welling game in goal!. They must have read my comments on here……surely……..
At least it is not that dreadful keeper from the ‘network’ who refused to travel with the team?
Not familiar with the keeper, who comes as third choice from the hammers, but hopefully will do the business.
Pity about those remarks about the Red Robin by Katrien!…… bit of an own goal there I am afraid. This could be a long season with this ladies hand on the tiller…… Still when the ‘mist’ clears I am sure she will make an able captain. Best get a pilot for those tricky water’s around the Thames ‘shipmates’.
