Operation Massive!
Not the most eye catching of ties for both sides, but the game does bring a little edge to it as Wednesday have been more of a rival to us than most in recent times.
The 5th Round game on February 15th takes us back to Yorkshire and with it I hope that we can get a fair few thousand up to Hillsborough for the day out.
I am certainly in the camp that a cup run can only help and not hinder, and frankly they come around so rarely that we should never sniff at them.
Before then we have three league matches starting tomorrow at Doncaster, and let’s not kid ourselves, this is a massive game, and in a different way.
The players stayed up north after the Huddersfield game and Powell has a few decisions to make, such as staying with five in midfield and who to play at left back. Naturally cautious I can see CP choosing either Wood or Dervite over Harry Lennon or a not fully fit Cedric Evina.
The players’ mental strength and spirit is never so needed, especially tough for Powell with so many unsettled futures and rumours abound. The latest being Bournemouth in for Kermorgant. Yann actually has an offer of a new contract in the summer, but it is very apparent that he will not sign it until Chris Powell’s future is settled positively.
The club did officially announce the arrival of Anil Koç on loan from Liege. Pronounced Kotch for those preparing a song, the 18-year old winger will mostly train with the U21’s according to Powell.
Another one of Roland Duchâtelet’s clubs Ujpest have announced that we have taken right back Loïc Nego on loan. If true to form, we won’t see this announced, for another few days. The 23-year old signed for Ujpest from Roma last year and came through the youth team at Nantes.
With Liege striker Reza Ghoochannejhad still being discussed in dispatches, one has to wonder if Powell will be able to sign anyone outside of Duchâtelet’s network. Still paramount though are those contract discussions.

Will we care if they are any good? With all those clubs he’s got to have a striker hasn’t he?
Hey CA – just thought I’d report that the grass is growing longer at the Valley but our electricity bill is going to be through the roof – lights on every evening at the moment. Who knows what these experts are up to in there.
We’re all off to Sheffield, we’re all off to Sheffield. I still love the Cup.
