Peachy

Back from Atlanta after another fun and tireless Christmas weekend in the ‘Big Peach’ with the family. We did everything we set out to do despite the weather being unusually uncooperative, the city witnessing overnight temperatures touching freezing and bang in the middle of nine consecutive days of rain.

We ended last night with a trip to the beautiful Botanical Gardens, just over a year to the night when me and the other half made our long relationship a bit more proper by me putting a ring on it.

The Christmas lights (photo) at the Botanical Gardens are enchanting and ingenious and well worth a Christmas visit if you are ever find yourselves in that neck of the woods.

We were home late this afternoon due to a flight delay. I opened the front door and on first sight it looked as if we’d been burgled. In fact two birds had got in, presumably down the chimney and they had caused absolute havoc. Things turned upside down, stuff broken, poo everywhere and two dead birds, stiff as a board, one upstairs, one down. Lovely!

I only had a 20-minute turnaround as I had a car taking me back into town to catch up on a few things before meeting one of my old clients for a couple of pints and then afterwards I attended a retirement dinner for another client, one I got to know extremely well since I’ve been in Bermuda and a true gent. Back home now, head full of retirement stories, the smell of bleach and broken takeovers.

Tomorrow I take out the team for our annual Christmas lunch, which will be longwinded and messy, in a non-bird poo kind of way.

The Botanical Gardens do a spectacular job with their Christmas display. We’ll be making our annual trip next week!
