Harris takeover bites the dust

According to the South London Press Josh Harris has pulled out of the bid to buy the Addicks. Toby Porter was the same journo that originally declared that a British property compnay were involved in talks to acquire us, which may have been a plant of just factually wrong, but Porter has now been given information that Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersery Devils owner would not meet Jimenez and Slater’s valuation.

To almost everyone Jiminez and Slater’s premium for the club is too excessive and although it was said a price of £18m was agreed, as time went on it sounded as if the two parties were unable to agree a final figure, presumably with Harris reckoning that it was way out of line.

This is really disappointing news with the transfer window ahead of us and with many players and the coaching staff out of contract in the summer. I won’t even mention our league position.

It is very rare that a billionaire businessman and a passionate fan of sports comes along and wants to get to know you better. Jimenez and Slater should have worked hard on a marriage proposal for the greater good of the club, but they clearly know better and think a lot more of themselves than others.

Not for the first time I’ll ask the question: What are they playing at and what is their motivation?

  1. I think they want their money back. Sadly the club is not worth what they’ve spent and sooner or later they will have to ‘give the club away’ like the previous board did.

Sadly by that time the only prospective buyers may well be much less desirable to us fans!

A bid which neither of the alleged parties has confirmed or commented on in any way has now been withdrawn. Not much of a story is it? “something that we think might have started has now stopped”

    • That’s a fair point SCN. And to be fair to Slater he denied it, but he also denied the club was for sale, but then a prospectus is unearthed. Slater also said that our ‘5 year plan’ is on course. Now that is a story.
