Queens Park Rangers 1 Charlton Athletic 0
No shame in losing today to a side with a £60m annual wageroll. Backed by a noisy away following, Charlie Austin’s 30-yard screamer just before half-time separated the two sides. A defeat with Millwall winning does put us down to 4th-bottom though and Tuesday night’s replay with Doncaster becomes an even more important game in hand for us.
Scoring goals has been a problem all season, only Yeovil have scored less, and against QPR’s stingy defence we were limited to a couple of chances, Jordan Cousins forcing Rob Green into a good save just before Austin scored another cracker against us.
Mindful of not rushing him back I do wonder if Powell will start Kermorgant on Tuesday. I’d also like to see us with more width in the side. I understand why Pritchard returned today but Harriott and Stewart were very effective against Leeds and we have to attack the Tuesday’s game with pace and positivity.

Powell-ometer: Not much cutting edge today that Powell needs to address but only with the talents that he has available. A point may not have been deserved, but it’s what we would have got if it wasn’t for a wonder goal.
Elsewhere: QPR move into 3rd level on points with Burnley who drew at Forest and Leicester who won at Ipswich. Blackpool were held at Birmingham and Blackburn and Reading was goalless. Leeds are 6th after beating Middlesbrough 2-1, Brighton continued their good form winning at Wigan and Watford lost at home to Bolton. Derby claimed all 3 points at Bournemouth and at the other end Huddersfield won 2-1 at Hillsborough and Millwall beat Barnsley at The Den. On Friday night Doncaster beat Yeovil 2-1.
