Hornet sting

I’ve been in a good place, and not just Banff, since I was at The Valley for our last game. It does seem like an age ago but I had a great day and thus my last Charlton memories are both good and fresh.

The transfer window came and went and Chris Powell even managed to add a couple of players to the squad, but more importantly no one was sold from under him and the icing to that particular cake was that Chris Solly signed a new 4-year contract.

Some would argue that the International Break might break our mini-mojo, but personally I think these past two weeks on the training ground will allow for this close-knit group to thrive on the Leicester win and will confidently look to take our season forwards as we approach three big games in a week.

Simon Church was away on Welsh duty, but didn’t get the opportunity to win another cap despite a couple of shocking performances from his comrades. I’m unsure as to Solly’s fitness, and I hear that Leon Cort has a knock.

Watford line up 3-5-2, so you’d imagine that Powell will match the Hornets with his new system. Wilson doesn’t deserve to be dropped, but might have to make way for Solly, and potentially Richard Wood could get a look in instead of Cort.

Watford have impressed early season but we shouldn’t be afraid and I think if Stephens in particular can have another good game especially from dead ball situations we can cause them problems like we did last time at Vicarage Road.
