From peaks to troughs

There are many higher places to travel to than Banff, but believe me it feels very close to heaven here. The mountains that surround Banff on all sides are breathtaking with dark evergreen trees layering them like a blanket. It is a beautiful little place, one of the most picturesque I have seen in North America.

The weather has been very warm, and it is hard to imagine that in around 6 weeks snow will cover the ground and the skiers will replace the hikers and the conference goers.

Talking of conferences, I wasn’t able to get to Lake Louise. I tried all the car rental companies yesterday to see if I could hire a car in the time I carved out but there was nothing available, which was a real shame.

I leave tomorrow at 5am for the drive back to Calgary and then it’s a long haul back to Miami. But this where I stop as I’m going to spend the weekend in South Beach. My life sucks sometimes.

I am attending another conference in Key Biscayne, which begins on Sunday night so on the basis that I wouldn’t get back home until Saturday evening as we land too late in Miami to pick up the solitary daily flight, the future Mrs CA gave me the green light to spend the weekend in Miami with a good mate, who was also here in Banff, and during the working week, is a competitor.

I’ll give up the solitude of Banff for the craziness of South Beach on Friday and Saturday, before we move over to Key Biscayne on Sunday afternoon.

CA, this vast and expansive country is full of “picturesque” from coast to coast. Glad you enjoyed your all too brief visit to the Rockies!

I was thinking Bob that I have now been to Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal but now need to see the bits in between. Banff definitely needs to be revisited, my stay was far too brief.
