Charlton Athletic 2 Wolverhampton Wanderers 1

My name is Jonathan Obika…. I come from White Hart Lane, and I can play…. What can you play?
I play football…O B, O B, OBIKA, OBIKA, OBIKA, O B, O B, OBIKA, OBIKA, OBIKA!

Another late, late show from the Spurs’ loanee as the Addicks deservedly banged another nail into Wolves’ coffin. The famous gold and black shirt’s displaying all the credentials of relegation material pinging the ball in the air at every opportunity and generally running around like headless chickens.

Wolves’ one shot on target was Doyle’s headed equaliser just minutes after Dervite had scrambled us in front in the 63rd minutes.

Danny Green’s contribution was measurable although we lost both talisman Andy Hughes and skipper Johnnie Jackson to injury. But it was Obika’s day who scored again in front of a delirious Covered End to end a dull game.

We are right to now look up the table as Powell and his troops amazingly keep alive the season but for me it was really important to pass the points mark that we did yesterday that mathematically makes the Addicks safe from relegation.

Powell-ometer: This has been another strong finish from the Addicks who have shown real purpose and focus during the last few weeks under Powell’s leadership.
Elsewhere: Cardiff won the title after getting a point at Burnley, Hull were held at home by relegated Bristol City on Friday night. Watford are 3rd after thrashing Blackburn 4-0 and Brighton are 4th after putting 6 past Blackpool at home. Bolton beat Middlesbrough 2-1 whilst Palace and Leicester drew 2-2 and Forest were held 0-0 at home by Barnsley. At the bottom Peterborough lost at Derby 3-1, Huddersfield beat Millwall 3-0 and Sheffield Wednesday and Ipswich ended 1-1. Birmingham beat Leeds 1-0.

In fact, they did beat Hamer in the first half with only the crossbar saving him. However freakish the goal would have been, had it gone in things could have been different.
